A B O U T   T H E   L A K E   M I C H I G A N   P A I N T I N G S

Born in Chicago, I spent many summers at the lakefront. Most of these paintings are not created from actual times and places, like the other Horizon paintings, but rather are recreations of memories and interpretations of the lake and its many guises. From hot humid summers with the Air Show or fireworks on the 4th of July, to rainy days sitting on the rocks by Belmont Harbor, runs home after work from Wacker Drive to Lakeview in the cold winters, to perfect spring days in the Museum campuses.

South Side is actually a study, though a large one!, for a large 2.5m x 1.5m commission for one of the Victorian "Painted Lady" houses of Hyde Park.
